Day 206 - Recap, no protest

I have a feeling there's a lot of shopping going on today.

Keep your kids safe from the predators, see you next time.

David Goldstein from CBS 2 news

David Goldstein is leading the fight against California's Dirty Little Secret. I don't see anyone tackling this critical issue like he is.

Therefore, I have created a 'David Goldstein Reports' section with links to all of his stories. Look for it under the Videos link.

This coming Monday at 11 pm he shows how someone using the identification of a registered sex offender gets a job as a Santa at a local mall.

Thank you David for all you are doing.

New video format

I have changed the way the videos are played. You no longer have to download them, they will play right here.

You can click the 'videos' link to see all the videos. You can also click the play button on videos that are in posts, like below.

You will need a high speed connection as the videos tend to be a large size.

Day 202 - Recap, Pomona passes sex offender ordinance

Pomona passes sex offender ordinanceThere was another protest this afternoon. Nothing exciting happened, but the tractor portion of the 'rolling death machine' is no longer at the clown house.

Tonight the Pomona city council voted on and approved an emergency ordinance that limits the number of sex offenders that can live in homes based on the zoning area. For example, homes in a residential zone will be limited to 1 sex offender.

We will have to wait and see how effective it is, but I applaud the Pomona city council for taking a stand for their community.

Click here to read more about it.

That's all for now, see you next time and keep your kids safe from the predators.

Pomona city council voting on sex offenders tonight

City Council members are expected to vote tonight on three items related to recent efforts to address the presence of sex offenders in the city.

The first item is an urgency ordinance calling for amendments to the city regulations related to the housing of multiple sex offenders in residential, commercial and industrial areas.

Councilwoman Norma Torres has been working to set limits to the number of sex offenders and violent parolees that can live in the same home in residential areas. She has also been working closely with residents of Douglass Drive to address the presence of sex offenders in residential areas since a home housing six parolees, some of them sex offenders, opened in the neighborhood. The neighborhood is north of the 10 Freeway and west of Ganesha Park.

In addition to the urgency ordinance, the council is expected to vote on the creation of a task force to address the sex offender issue and find alternative ways of dealing with the presence of sober living homes in the city. The Douglass Drive home as been described by its operator as such a facility.

Finally, the council is also expected to vote on an item that would allow the city to hire an outside lawyer to help draw up local regulations to deal with sex offenders.

Day 201 - Recap, no protest

No protesting today.

Channel 11 had a sex offender report tonight but I missed it. David Goldstein had another report on sex offenders Friday. Here is part of it:

For most people living next to a registered sex offender is bad enough, but how about one who has access to every apartment in a huge complex?

He's the man you call to make repairs; the man who has access to every apartment in this complex in Huntington Beach. He's also a man who's a registered sex offender.

Residents in the Huntington gardens apartments know Peter Dickson as the handyman; we know him as a convicted pedophile charged with the continuous sexual abuse of a child. Court records show the victim was under 11 years old.

Residents say Dickson has master keys for all of the units. On one day, our surveillance camera caught him going in and out of an apartment apparently doing some work. And that makes residents fearful.

Bob Castro lives there with his wife and teenage son.
"These people are putting a lot of people in danger that have kids. They have no regard for the people who live there and the children." Castro told us that "35 to 40 kids" live in this complex.

Bob, we know the feeling.

See you next time.
